Jaune (and JNPR) Death (V3 CHAPTER12 SPOILERS)

So Jaune is one of my favourite characters in RWBY, and I'm extremely worried that he's not going to survive to the end. The reason for this is that he now has been set up in every way to either die fighting Cinder, or whilst taking her down with him.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Joan of Arc story, spoilzers: she dies at the end, by being burnt to death.  In fact, every character that the members of team JNPR are based off of all die, and this has made me anxious as to whether or not Pyrrha was only the first.

Jaune is currently a, quite reasonably, broken and upset individual. What's more, he's now going on a mission to find his beloved's killer. This could easily end in him facing Cinder whilst Ruby fights Salem, with him sacrificing himself to kill his own opponent in the name of revenge for Pyrrha (and possibly the remainder of his team if they also die). This would also give much more reason for Cinder only using fire as it would match the Joan of Arc story. Additionally, Jaune even uses the same weapons as Pyrrha, which makes it all the more likely that he'll be the one to fight Cinder.

However, this is really not what I want to happen, as there is another route that could easily be taken that would be a bit less 'Elizabethan tragedy', and a bit more 'inspiring journey', and that is to have Jaune and Ruby end up together, after Jaune is nearly killed by Cinder, but does finally defeat her (or maybe even to let someone else do it if you really want to go down the forgiving saint route). This would mean that he has broken free of the fairy tale, as well as having avenged Pyrrha. Also, by having him win, it will show how he has been able to surpass Pyrrha (as she trained him and all). The show would then also have the moral message of "don't let the loss of a loved one rule your own life", which is likely what Pyrrha would have wanted (she seemed to be more interested in Jaune's happiness than her own love of him during the whole Weiss thing). Lastly, a happy ever after between Jaune and Ruby would finally be possible, and after all they've been through (and probably have yet to suffer through), they deserve it.

Btw, the reason I say that Jaune would end up with Ruby is purely because she seems the most likely partner for him (and I kinda shipped them early on). He doesn't need to end up with her to survive, it just seemed like the best outcome to me. All in all, I want Jaune to live, to kill Cinder, and to end up with Ruby; but this probably won't happen ;(

Will Torchwick come back as a good guy?

So unless Neo is Torchwick's semblance, chances are, his actual semblance will somehow allow him to survive (Gray has hinted that he has a semblance). This got me thinking of reasons to bring him back, and the thought crossed my mind: what if he comes back as a good guy? From the sounds of what he was saying whilst fighting ruby, he seemed to be siding with Cinder out of understanding that the bad guys had the upper hand instead of actual morally connecting with them. If he were to come back and discover that Ruby and co. had beaten part of her plan, he may see it as an opportunity to change sides, thus giving the good guys a man who knows about Cinder's strengths and weaknesses, as well as a key component of Vale's criminal underworld. It would also make it convenient to the plot as to why Torchwick didn't actually know what the bad guy's end goal was. So hopefully, we may get to see Roman and Neo with the good guys in volume 4 or 5 :D
